GoCertify: What does the CISSP designation certify and who is it for?

Thomas R. Peltier: Certification as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional, or "CISSP" provides managers a high level of assurance that the holder of the certification has a broad knowledge of information security principles and meets high standards of integrity. Security practitioners who have been awarded the CISSP certification are viewed across the industry as having the credibility to perform standard information security functions with professionalism and integrity.

GoCertify: What is required in order to earn this title?

Thomas R. Peltier: The candidate must have 3 years direct work in at least one domain as a practitioner, auditor, consultant, vendor, investigator, instructor. It is the candidate's actual time worked and can be cumulative. You must attest that you are not a criminal and are willing to adhere to the (ISC)2 Code of Ethics.
